You wouldn't steal a handbag...

There should be plenty in this post to kick-start the debate! And, if I am doing my job right - you shouldn't really know where I sit on these topics!

So, here we go.

Basically because the internet has opened up so many more avenues for publication now; images, sounds and videos - all content is easily shared, duplicated and manipulated.  In the past (back in my day) we used to make mix-tapes from the radio - but we were limited to the time we had (to sit and wait for our song to play) and the people in our networks from whom we could 'steal' music. To be honest - it was easier just to buy the tape or CD we wanted... Today however... things have changed!!!!

So what does it mean? Well - the film industry are going for the conscience vote - you wouldn't steal a handbag...

But the other side of the argument is this:  (via Boing Boing)

So - is the movie industry doing themselves any favours?  Has the medium changed but the industry failed to move with the times?  What do you reckon?  Can you give examples of industries you have studied that are evolving with the advent of new media and digital technologies?
